Leanne Yu focuses her practice on complex litigation, including defending creditors and debt collectors in individual and class actions brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and related state laws.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Yu was a Deputy Attorney General at the Department of Justice focusing on complex financial services litigation.  Specifically, she assisted with a lawsuit against a large financial service company, which successfully resolved for $150 million in favor of the government.  At another state agency, Ms. Yu successfully defended numerous complex financial audits of health care providers and employment matters.  She also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Laurel Beeler at the United States District Court, Northern District of California.

Ms. Yu graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.  After graduating from Berkeley, Ms. Yu interned at the State Capitol, working at the Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus and the Office of Assembly Member Ted Lieu.  For her outstanding work, Ms. Yu received a legislative resolution from former Assembly Member Ted Lieu (now Congressman for the 33rd District).  Thereafter, Ms. Yu attended the University of California, Hastings and graduated cum laude.  While at Hastings, she served as an Articles Editor with Berkeley Law's Asian American Law Journal and interned for the Honorable Teri L. Jackson at the San Francisco Superior Court.  Ms. Yu is a member of the Litigation Section of the California Lawyers Association, Edward J. McFetridge American Inn of Court, and the San Francisco Bank Attorneys Association.  Additionally, Ms. Yu has participated in numerous volunteer activities, including providing employment law advice to nonprofit, helping foster youths, and mentoring BAR candidates.
